Danette Nixon - of PrincessJewels4Kids

Sarah: Please tell me how you got started and where CEO Kids and parents can find out more info about you.

Danette: I love to wear jewelry but my mom could never find sterling silver jewelry that was cute and that also fit my wrist so that inspired me to make sterling silver jewelry for other girls all around the world. Parents and kids can find out more about me on Facebook – where kids can join my fan page called Teen Wall of Fame and on my website – www.princessjewels4kids.com where they can look at my photo album and order a bracelet.

Sarah: When did you start thinking about starting your own business and becoming an entrepreneur and why did you want to start?

Danette: I started thinking about starting my own business when I was five. So my mom would give me little business tasks to do around the house until I was old enough to control a healthy business. Finally after three years of tasks I was ready to start working on my business.

Sarah: Where did you come up with your idea and what investigation did you do to help you know that this would be a great business?

Danette: My idea came from my own difficulty of finding sterling silver jewelry that fit my wrist. I knew this would be a great idea because almost every girl likes to wear jewelry, so it would be a good market to go in since there is a lot of demand but barely any service. Also if my mom had a hard time finding sterling silver jewelry that fit then I know that most likely other parents are having trouble as well.

Sarah: What do you think are the most important skills you have that help you in business?

Danette: Four skills that helped me in my business were aspiration, inspiration, flexibility, and willingness. Aspiration was helpful in my business because if you don’t have the drive and motivation to do something then most of the time it won’t get done. Inspiration helped my business because my reason for making jewelry gave me an extra boost of motivation. Flexibility was helpful to my business because you always need a plan, since you are going to have to adjust to your surroundings. Like my mom says “You should always have a plan A, B, C, D, E and maybe even more depending on the situation. Lastly, willingness was helpful in my business because if you are not willing to be flexible or network with people, it will really hold you back.

Sarah: What were the biggest obstacles, problems you had in getting started in business?

Danette: The biggest obstacle I had was just getting out there and being willing to try new things and ideas. Our human nature wants to go the way that we know, though that might not always be the best way. So, just be willing to try new ideas that people give you even though that’s not the way you were taught. Who knows the new way might be more productive.

Sarah: How old were you when you started and how old are you now? How does your age affect your business success?

Danette: When I started my business I was 9 years old and now I am 13. I think that it was difficult at first for people to build trust in my jewelry but after the first couple of sales it was a lot easier because people felt more comfortable. At first most of the people that brought my jewelry were people I knew and as I built reliability people started blowing in like the wind. I think now that I am thirteen it will be a little easier to sell my product.

Sarah: What about college? Are you planning on going?

Danette: Yes, I am definitely planning on going to college but I haven’t decided where I would like to go or what I would like to major in. Currently I would like to be a speaker, model, and a fashion designer. When I get older I want to travel around the world speaking about youth success and I also want to take my business to the next level by adding clothes, shoes, purses etc. to my collection of jewelry. I would like to have my own online boutique.

Sarah: What kind of expenses or start-up costs did you have when you started your business and where did you find the money or capital to start?

Danette: To start my business I needed a work station, storage for supplies, and tools for my crafts. Those were the major costs I needed to get started, so overall it was about $1000 and that all came from my mom. All of my start-up costs came from my mom but now a partial amount of the money I make from selling jewelry goes back into my business. My mom still provides financial support in my business.

Sarah: What have been the best surprises that you found in starting your business?

Danette: Judge Hatchett came to my city to speak twice. The first time I met Judge Hatchett I presented a bracelet that was black and white to match her judicial robe and in return she sent me a handwritten thank-you letter. The second time I saw Judge Hatchett I presented another bracelet to her and she also called me on stage and talked about my business to about 150 people. Also I got to attend the 2010 Glazer/ Kennedy Super Conference and while I was there I got to host a youth entrepreneur pizza party with my mom. I also got to design and sell a 5th grade graduation bracelet for my elementary school. Lastly I designed 3 bracelets exclusively for Girls Inc.

Sarah: Do you do EVERYTHING by yourself or do you have people on your team that work with you? If so – how did you find people to help you along the way?

Danette: Most of it like making the jewelry and designing it etc., I do by myself but I also have the help of my mom with things that involve finances. Then things like my website my mom does that as well. One day I will have more things I have to do but for now I focus on jewelry making & designing, advertising, and other jobs that don’t involve things that I am not old enough for like filing sales taxes etc.

Sarah: What ideas and approaches do you use to market your business and what do you find works best for you in getting the word out about who you are and what you are doing?

Danette: I attend cheering competitions and so there is basically a stadium full of mostly girls who would absolutely love to have a custom made bracelet with their team colors. So it is kind of a straight shot, which you won’t always have. I also advertise everywhere I go by wearing my bracelets; therefore, if they like it I can tell them that I made it and most of the time they will buy a bracelet.

Sarah: How do you balance it all? Do you find that you still have time to be a kid?

Danette: Yes, I still have time to be a kid and do things like go to the mall or the movies or hang out with my friends. Although there still are blocks of time where I do have to sit down and work on designing new bracelets, filling orders or checking supplies. But my mom is strict about my school work coming before fun or business.

Sarah: What is the best advice or tips you would like to share with young entrepreneurs?

Danette: One tip that I would like to share with the youth is that, there are going to be things you don’t want to do but in the end all your hard work will pay off, so don’t give up. I chose this tip because I have times when I really just don’t want to do something but when I do it and get it over with then I can go and do whatever I want to do. That also comes in with time management so if you want to go to the movies or the mall you can but when you get back you have to work on whatever it is that you need to work on.

Know Your E-Business Rights. Legal Tips for Net Based Businesses

As an online entrepreneur one of the foremost key to achieve internet success is to know your e-business rights. Like in any other type of industry or business that you would like to earn money from, there are some legal concerns incorporated in operating a home and internet based business. The safest step totake is to get the legal services of a lawyer before you make any business decisions.

You need to understand though, that most of the resolutions you will create concerning your net based business will have to depend hugely from your instinct. There are several benefits that you can get if you legally run your business. These include tax implications and some legal issues. You will also begin to realize that most financial institutions, such as banks or established investors will take you and your net based business seriously.

When you know your e-business rights, you’ll also realize the importance of trademarks and patents. If you have new and fresh ideas or you have invented specific products, you should not fail having them patented. If you make, create or write articles for your net based business, it’s purposeful to place a trademark on them as well as in your web pages. The chief purpose of this is to keep you, your work and your entire internet based company from being stolen and used by other people for their benefit.

One legal tip that you should remember is to take some time reading any leases, contracts or agreements before you sign them. By comprehensively reading each of the contract’s sections, you will have better understanding of how you can benefit from such contract and what your limitations are.

To fully understand and know your e-business rights, it’s essential to research about the existing internet prohibitions and laws. This will definitely save you from being banned, having your online account cancelled or from operating an illegal business in the internet.

Because of the economic recession, you’re probably facing a slowdown in your business that makes you wonder if you can still achieve your long term goals. The good news is, despite the economic difficulties, there are some alternatives that you can use to efficiently market your business as well as continue getting new clients. One of which is using teleseminars to boost your profits.
Some entrepreneurs decide to close down their business momentarily until the recession alleviates. As long as your marketing technique is effective, it will work in either good or bad economy. Some business owners lower their prices just to keep their clients. They believe that if their customers can’t pay for their services in a problematic economy, they will entice more clients to purchase their products or services if they will lower their costs. Instead of doing this, the best way to inhibit the economy’s condition from hitting your business negatively is to offer lower costs services or products like teleseminars.

The following are the reasons why you should be using teleseminars to boost your profits:
1. They are not expensive to carry out since you are targeting large number of people at once, you are as well luring potential clients at once to consider your products and services.

2.The interested clients will only have to pay lower prices for teleseminars but still gain knowledge and skills from your expertise.

3.They furnish your clients a good platform to inquire and ask you questions without having to pay for your one-on-one service charge.

4.These marketing techniques will help you generate more money in less period of time.

5. They offer and present potential clients the chance to try your products and services before they buy them. Additionally, the customers are given the opportunity to know you better.

Without doubt, using teleseminars to boost your profits and promoting your live and virtual events are a surefire way to get your business going despite the economic recession.

Low and No Cost Marketing Strategy for Your Small Business
Opening a home based internet marketing business with low and no cost marketing strategy is possible if you know the right steps to take. This article will provide you the guidelines for free or low cost promotion and advertising of your home business.

Forums, Articles and Directories
Daily or regular article submission, sending your web pages in various directories, and a leaving a backlink in your signatures when you post in forums can all facilitate a free volume of traffic from search engines and referrals.

Traffic Down line Builders
Generating referrals also known as down lines in traffic exchanges directly, or by advertising and promoting down line builder sites can assist in adding more and more visitors to your site. This grants a low and no cost marketing strategy by advertising affiliate marketing programs if you don’t have your own site yet.

List Building
List building programs are almost similar with traffic exchange down line builder programs though they are more specialized than the latter. They are focused on creating your own list of referrals, together with random and even bonus contacts from the membership program.

Although there are overflowing options for free to join home based internet opportunities, you should note that the number of scams is equal to the number of legitimate business choices. You should exercise extra caution before you give out all your effort only to find out later that you’ve been scammed.
Once you’ve established yourself in the online marketing industry, you can then use paid marketing techniques, which are the best way to grow your business substantially faster than by utilizing low and no cost marketing strategy alone. Despite all the hard sell, it will take you some time and persistence to generate a significant profit from your venture as a marketer. Remember, online success is only achievable if you wisely incorporate each of the marketing factors.

What is Article Marketing & How Can You Benefit from It?
It’s amazing how many new ways companies can think of to advertise their product. The thought of immense sales and high profits really motivates them to think outside the box when they pre-sell their products to the market. Companies are tired of the usual paid advertisements in the media, and are now considering other approaches that will tickle the fancy of their target markets. In business, just as it always has over the years, it is all about innovation – finding new ways to do old things. One of these strategies is article marketing. What is article marketing & how can you benefit from it?
Article marketing is basically an approach to advertising that uses small articles to market a company’s product or services. Small articles about the products or services of the company are printed in flyers and are passed around everywhere. This is a great out-of-the-box approach to getting the attention of the market. If the articles are written well, the public will gain interest in the product or service. This interest will be the source for potential sales of the company.
You can benefit by being a writer of these articles. If you do well, you will be paid a huge amount for your writing skills. You can also volunteer to distribute the flyers around the city or town, with a charge of course.
If you have your very own business, you can get the market you want by writing solid and legitimate articles. Your business will be a cut above the rest. While all your competitors pay thousands of dollars through TV, radio, and print advertisements, you save a lot of money with article marketing. Most importantly, you have set your product or service apart from the rest of the industry. Now that’s hitting two birds with just a single stone.

Considering Going from a Sole Proprietorship to LLC or S-Corp, Here are Some Tips

Do you think it’s the perfect time to restructure your business from sole proprietorship to limited liability company (LLC) or S Corporation (S-Corp)? Nowadays, it is possible to shift to an LLC or S-Corp in most states. However, converting to LLC or S-Corp entails a great deal of research, financial investment, and planning. If you are considering going from sole proprietorship to LLC or S-Corp, here are some tips.

1. As a sole proprietor, carefully weigh the advantages of forming an LLC or S-Corp against the costs related to the business restructuring. Especially if your business is service-based, changing your business structure can be very advantageous. For instance, LLC can provide some form of liability protection to your personal assets that sole proprietorship cannot. If the advantages outweigh the costs of the conversion, then go ahead with the restructuring of your business.

2. When computing the costs of forming an LLC or S-Corp, take into account the taxes you are required to pay. Corporations are often associated with the so-called double taxation wherein income is taxed twice (at the individual and corporate levels). Some business owners forego their shareholder dividend payments to avoid double taxation.

3. To set up an LLC or S-Corp, you need to create your articles of incorporation, or you can ask your lawyer to do it for you. Then file the articles with the office of the Secretary of State and pay the required fees.

4. Although many states do not require an operating agreement, it is recommended that you draft one. This document clearly defines the ownership, responsibilities, profit sharing, and the changes in ownership and structure of the business.

5. Know the specific policies for setting up LLCs or S-Corps in your state. For example, a number of states require the publishing of a notice of company restructure in the local newspaper.

Let’s Take a Look at Step #2

Combining Your Desires To Complete Your Business Success Using The Law of Attraction A great step in becoming clear with your ideal business is combining your results from your contrast for clarity papers and making a script.

This is what I mean:

You created a list of negative results you may have when building a business. Then you established a positive statement to turn that negative statement around. Your next step is to create a one page script or desire statement by combining your positive statements

This should be fun…You are now becoming aware of what your desired business looks like with complete clarity. You should have at your fingertips, your complete picture of your ideal business. Make it almost as if you are telling someone about your business. More than one statement can be expressed in one sentence within your statement (i.e. “My ideal business is filled with quality recurring customers who are happy and receives tons of valuable information from me. The income that is produced from my business is $5,000 or more each week and I am able to give 10% of my income to church with extra income left over. My business has produced over $100,000 worth of sales for my associates….”).

The next step is extremely important, but I do not place either of these steps more superior than the other. All of these are required and should be utilized to get the engine ignited within your business.

Step #3 What To Do Now?

You may be thinking, “wow, this is neat, now where is my dream business?”

Well, here is another important step you can take to get your desired business results.

You have to learn that statement and be able to state it out loud whenever you think about it.

Be certain to:

Sate and FEEL your statement 3 times a day: 1. First thing in the morning. 2. Midday 3. And right before you go to bed.

You can start off reading this statement, but eventually you are going to want to be able to repeat your desired statement from the heart.

The most IMPORTANT thing you want to make sure you do when saying your statement out loud is to feel the feelings of having those things you desire while you are reading.

For some of you, who are already familiar with The Law of Attraction, may already know that the feeling in your statement is the driving force in establishing your desires.

And for those of you who do not know this: THE FEELING IS THE DRIVING FORCE IN ESTABLISHING YOUR DESIRES!

Excuse that bad netiquette, but this is one of the most forgotten facts when trying to attract anything through the Law of Attraction. It is sometimes the only reason why some people are failing at the Law of Attraction. You have to put feeling into it.

This may seem odd at first and you may not believe the statements that you are faithfully stating everyday, but that is the point of this exercise. You have to come to the belief that you can be, do, or have anything you want in your business.

There are only two ways you can establish your beliefs. Through Impact and Repetition.

This exercise is helping you through Repetition…You add the feelings…and reap the benefits.

Guess what? There is one more important fact I want to introduce you to. It is common sense and even those who do not complete this step already know that it is needed, yet so many people fail to do it. And that is…Take Action.

Taking Action is an important step when building your business while using the Law of Attraction, yet most people ignore this fact. Some expect for techniques like the one above to be all that is needed to make this happen.

Taking Action:

If you think that this is all that is needed to establish your business, you are up to a rude awakening. Now, no one said that your Action had to be hard or painful, but there is always action when receiving. When you are wanting to receive this dream business of yours, realize that you will always have to act to receive. Action can be as small as holding a door open for someone who in turns, offer you a business proposition just by her instincts. Action can be as big as working 12 hours a day for a month to get a huge and successful business off the ground. If you are doing everything right, Action should for the most part, feel effortless. I love the word EFFORTLESS!

You may have done a lot of work during those 12 hours a day, but having that work feel fun and exciting is what you are looking for. Make it feel good by taking inspired action and enjoy your journey!

I tell people, act like you already have it. Do the things you would do if you were already there. That is most if not all Law of Attraction teachers preach out there.

What are you doing? GO TAKE ACTION!

Contrast for Clarity, Step #1

Contrast for Clarity is simple, but this is one of the most important steps in showing the Universe what it is you want. If you give the Universe mixed thoughts and feelings, the results or what manifests will be an exact match (mixed) and therefore not being exactly what you really want. So, lets take a look at Step 1!

On the top of a sheet of paper write “My Ideal ______” This could be your Ideal Clients, Business Partners, Advertising, or anything you feel as though it needs some working on. It is good to break your business down into sections like these so that you can take the time to look at what you don’t want and what you do want at each portion of your business.

Fold the paper evenly one time so that you have two long columns with the longest part of the paper being the two columns

On the left side of the paper you are to write what it is you do not like about your business (i.e. For “My Ideal Clients”, I may write, “I do not want clients who are hard to find.”)

Do this step 5-10 times

I do realize that some areas of business may need more improvement than other sections, but 5 items should help get you to some great clarity for now and 10 should do the trick if you need it.

Also, do clarity for contrast step more than once for different areas of your business that you would like to work on. Some examples could be your clients, income, vacation time, or even your stress level. People desire many different things and will also need help in different areas. Some people may do well with attracting loads of money in their business, but are leading lousy businesses due to stressful events.

You know what you and your business needs the most.

Now you want to take each negative item and write out the positive statement on the other side of the paper next to the negative item (i.e. So, instead of the statement “I do not want clients who are hard to find”, write “Clients come frequently and easily” on the right hand side. This will give you the opposite of the negative thought.)

Remember that you want to do that for all the subjects that you feel needs improvement (i.e. “My Ideal Income”, “My Ideal Product”, “My Ideal Training”, “My Ideal Time Freedom”).

This is your business and you are the creator of your business. Take your time and realize that you can have whatever it is that you desire. Remember to DREAM BIG!

How to Use LOA to Build a Successful Business (part 1)

Here I will give you some basic details of what steps to take and what works for me. I will also include some references that I think are for the modern day people (Simple and Efficient Techniques that Work)

For those of you who do not know what the “Law of Attraction” is, read below:

The Law of Attraction states that like attracts like in its most simplest definition. What I mean is, if you hold thoughts of negative events within your mind, you are bound to experience those same events in your life.

The same works for positive thinking. If you are keeping wonderful and positive thoughts within your mind, you can bet that you will be receiving those thoughts in your life.

How does this relate to business? Well, some people know about the Law of Attraction and they also own their own businesses. Some people know about the Law of Attraction and they still think that they cannot build their own business. There are also some people who think that the Law of Attraction does not work for them within their business. Unfortunately, there are some people who know nothing about the Law of Attraction and are failing miserably in their business.

I have some good news. There are many people out there today who are teachers of this information. They link and lock in tools necessary to build your business and accomplish the results that you desire and deserve.

Once you start to learn how to implement the Law of Attraction in your business, you will start to be amazed by the results that come before you. People will start to show up in your life to help you accomplish your goals. Money will start to come in to help you with capital needs and you will start to see other things all around you that you did not see before you started to use the Law of Attraction.

In part two, I will show you some of the simple and basic steps in building your business from scratch using the Law of Attraction.

LOA & The Entrepreneur. The Power of Positive Business Thinking

Ever heard about the Law of Attraction (LOA)? A lot of life coaches and motivational speakers encourage people to adopt this principle to be able to achieve what they want in life. But did you know that you can use LOA to create a business that attracts the right customers and clients? That’s the truth between LOA & the entrepreuner. The power of positive thinking must play a central role in achieving the goals of a business.
LOA states that based on vibration and energy, like attracts like. That means the energy you put into everything you do, say, and think determines the kinds of things you attract into your life. Your actions, feelings, and thoughts should be consistent with your goals for them to be realized.
When applied to your business, LOA involves not only thinking about your business, but also concentrating on the kind of clients and customers you want to deal with and the success you desire for your business. This mindset is in stark contrast to that of a business owner who always worries about problems such as difficult clients and customers, lack of money, and even the troubles of building a profitable business.
Obsessing about difficult clients and customers will never help in attracting the kind of people you want to do business with. Likewise, if you worry a lot about financial problems, then you are more likely to suffer from these woes.
If you have lots of negative thoughts and feelings about your business, you can still reverse it to ensure success. Focus on the positive—adopt the LOA principle. Constantly remind yourself why you have become an entrepreneur in the first place. Try to imagine what your business would look like if you could achieve your goals. Positive thinking can indeed do wonders on how your business will perform in the long run.

These packages are designed to help you stay organized throughout the party planning process. You can create checklists so that you do not forget anything you need to do. Many event planning packages allow you to create budgets so that can keep track of expenses. Once your budget is created, you can then enter expenses as you go so that you know where you are cost wise.

You can create your guest lists and keep track of RSVP’s. This is a useful tool so that you have a head count ongoing when planning food, beverages, etc. You can also use the list to follow up with guests who have not responded to the RSVP request.

Some party software allows you the convenience of sending invitations online. There are message boards where you can post online information about the party and communicate with your guests.

Some of the fancier packages offer lots of party tips and tricks that can help you with ideas for party themes and menu planning. They offer information on party resources such as decorations and party favors.

The checklist creator feature many of these products have will help you create complete lists so you do not forget anything. You might have an activity on the list to make an initial appointment with the caterer, and another activity to remind you closer to party date to contact him or her to make sure everything is on track as planned.

After you use the planning tools to plan your menu, the party theme, the decorations, and the party details, you can then use that information to create shopping lists to use for buying items for the party. If your event is one that requires seating arrangements, you can use these tools to help you plan and create the ideal seating layout.

Menu planning is made much easier using event software. Once your menu is created, you can create a checklist so you can organize which foods can be prepared ahead of time and which foods cannot.

Planning a party is stressful enough as it is. Utilizing resourceful tools like event planning software can make your job so much easier. You’re less likely to forget things by planning with these tools, and that will make for a well planned, fun party for everyone.

Podcasting is one of the online technological wonders that have earned phenomenal popularity nowadays. Coming in audio or video format, this technology has taken the level of communication a notch higher by enabling people to transfer podcasts to their personal devices so that they can listen or view them at the time and place most convenient to them.

Businesses, in particular, can gain marketing edge with the help of podcasting as an effective communication tool. Podcastiing is easier than you think. Business benefits to podcasting include boosting your online presence, traffic-to-sales conversion rates, customer loyalty, and ability to attract more clients and customers. Taking advantage of podcasting is a surefire way to stay ahead of the competition.

Here are three ways you can use podcasting to achieve business success.

1. Product Launch. Aside from the traditional methods of introducing your new products or services to the public (e.g., print and TV ads), you can create a podcast and put it on your company website to reach out to a wide online audience.

2. Customer Support. Excellent customer support is what drives many businesses forward. To enhance the customer support of your business, make podcasts that answer the most frequently asked questions about your goods or services. That way, customers can listen to the audio or watch videos that can guide them in purchasing or using anything you have to offer.

3. Press Release. Today, press releases are no longer confined to the print format. You can include podcasting as one of your business’ publicity tools. That way, you can easily establish your product’s branding and image to your target customers.

Podcasting is advantageous both to businesses and their prospective customers. This communication technology is very easy to use and does not cost much. Thus, it is a good idea for a business to invest their resources in podcasting to gain more customers and profits.

The pros and cons of Full time versus Part time Self Employment

When you’re self-employed (or thinking about becoming self-employed), one of the more important decisions you’ll need to make is whether you want to do this work full-time or part-time. That’s a difficult question for many people, and here are some things to consider when making that decision.

Full-Time Benefits

* You can have a career that you love that also brings you enough money for your needs

* You can devote yourself to skill-building

* You will be available to your clients more often

Part-Time Benefits

* You can spend more time with your family and friends

* You can have another job at the same time, either full-time or part-time

* You can “test the waters” to see if you really want to go into this career

* You can go to school to complete your training, and earn money on the side to pay for it

Whether you choose full-time or part-time, you need to consider your personality (do you want to do this work full-time?), your skill level (are you still in school or just learning the skills?), how much you need to make (do you have enough clients to do this full-time?), and whether full-time work offers you the best balance in your life style.

You may find that you want to keep your regular full-time job and do this work on a part-time basis until you’re more sure of yourself and your ability to get enough clients. This is often a “best of both worlds” scenario, though it requires a lot of time and commitment. If you do this work part-time, there is likely to come a time when there is simply too much opportunity and you have to make a decision to go full-time. Until then, part-time may be the answer for you.

If you choose to continue working your regular job and doing your business on the side, you will need to decide whether your regular job coworkers should know about your other work or not. In some companies, having your own part-time business is not seen as “acceptable,” and it may hurt your chances of being promoted or put on special projects. I have heard of cases where people were fired from their job when their boss found out they had their own business on the side. Only you can know your company’s work culture; if you’re unsure, it might be best to say nothing.

For one, it gives them the flexibility and freedom to work at their own convenience and to be their own boss. However, self-employment is not for everyone. In fact, it entails more hard work and patience compared to working for a company. There are certain things that have to be considered to know if being self-employed is the right choice. Are you planning to quit your day job and become self-employed instead? The following are seven questions you can ask yourself on how to determine if self employment is really for you.

1. Does your target market have the potential to grow in the long run?

2. Who are your future competitors? What will be your competitive edge?

3. Are you flexible? Can you multitask? Compared to employment for a company, self-employment deals with uncertainties more often. If you think you can adjust to that setting, then self-employed is right for you.

4. Are you comfortable with marketing yourself and your business? If you feel iffy about doing sales talks and promoting your business, then you might be better off staying employed in the company you are currently working for.

5. Do you have the right motivation and self-discipline? When you are self-employed, there is no time for slacking off—even if you are your own boss.

6. Do you have enough contacts that can help you start and grow your business?

7. Can you do away with benefits (such as health and life insurance) that are usually provided by a company? Remember, one of the drawbacks of self-employment is not having the benefits that a company may offer.

With self-employment, you either sink or swim. It is not for the faint of heart—it takes a lot of courage and discipline to be able to profit from being self-employed.

How to Grow Your Life Coaching Business

There are three phases of business growth:

Phase 1 – Learning how to grow, how to get enough clients, and to get MORE clients.
Phase 2 – Overworked, the result of succeeding at Phase 1
Phase 3 – This was what everyone thought they wanted, but, since it wasn’t on their game plan just this way, most will never get here — having the money they want with the time to enjoy it with the people they want to enjoy it with.

Most business owners, coaches are the worst at this, have the blinders on in Phase 1. We’ve been conditioned from our previous experiences that “getting a job” is the way to go. However, there are a few of us that were brave enough to start our own business . . . or just maybe . . . we were forced out of the previous job and “coaching” became the next option.

But, just because we are running our own business, that didn’t change the mindset that we had to “create job security.” To create job security we have to “fill our hours with clients, lots of them.” The result is that we end up in the rat race of either Phase 1, where we are still trying to figure out how to make it happen, or, if by some happenstance we have succeeded at doing what we had in our game plan, filling the hours, we just might succeed at that.

But, we’ll wake up some day and discover that that was not what we wanted. We didn’t want to work so hard, and didn’t want to have the time to enjoy what we had . . . and that’s assuming that what we had accomplished actually supported us in the means we’d like to become accustomed. I’m frequently surprised at the low prices I’m hearing that some coaches are charging . . . because they are sure that if they charge more they won’t have enough clients, and as it is, there aren’t many.

To move to Phase 3 means that we must redesign our coaching business.

Selling one on one coaching can be hard for many, and it’s still selling one at a time. It’s one on one selling.

Where, selling mastermind groups at about 1/2 what you sell for one on one coaching, but doing it with 10 or more generates 5 times more income for the same hours, and is infinitely easier to sell . . . at least it is when you get your core marketing message right.

John, one of the coaches I coach, stopped selling his one on one coaching at thousands of dollars, and started selling mastermind groups at a few hundred dollars a month. He announced the mastermind group with a target ultimate outcome. He had targeted having 10 people, but within 3 weeks of just announcing it at some networking groups he had 30 people asking to join in. Easier to sell, and made him 15 times more for every hour spent.

Then he backed up and decided that he could do 2-3 of these every year for only a couple of hours a week and he’d hit his Phase 3 goal, having the kind of money he wanted, while having to the time to enjoy it.

There are lots of ways to redesign your coaching business to head for a Phase 3. Instead of trying to “fill your hours” find ways to work with more people even with reduced fees. it will be easier to sell, in fact you’ll start moving from one to one selling and marketing, and one to one coaching (which will fill your hours), toward one to many selling, marketing, and coaching where you’ll generate more while working less.

So where are you in your coaching business,

Phase 1 — still trying to figure out how to get enough clients,
Phase 2 – having figured it out but now working hard at it. Or
Phase 3 — having redesigned your business to make the money you want and having the time to enjoy it with those you want to enjoy it with.

It takes hard work and proper planning to achieve success. While you may have what it takes to make the business successful, you need to put your skills to the right use at the right time.

Here are a few tips that you can use to help your small business become successful.

Your Own Experience and Skills
You are the sole owner of your small business. So naturally the success of the business is completely dependent on your experience and skills.

Even if you have never run a business before, your previous job experiences can be vital to your business. If you find yourself lacking some skills like management or scheduling, consider taking training in these areas.

Product or Service
Small businesses have the edge of being innovative, whether they deal in products or services.
The fact that you are serving customers on a micro-level can be turned into a major opportunity, as you have one-on-one interactions with your customers and you can customize your service or product to suit them.

The Marketing
Just because your business is small does not mean that you should not market it. In your own small way, create a buzz around of your product or service.

Do not underestimate the power of local marketing. Even getting your van painted with your business logo and telephone number can get you substantial leads.

Salesmanship
The art of good old salesmanship is your small business’ best asset. When you are running your own business, you cannot delegate sales to someone else totally.

As the proprietor, you will need to come into the picture. Your presence lends more strength to the sales department – and if you are a good salesman, there is nothing that will stop you from being successful.

Location
This is the one of the most important factors in the success of a business. Depending on the type of business you are in, you need to choose the most strategic location.

If you are working from home, make sure that you provide your clients with the exact directions to your home; or at least make sure that you are easily reachable at all times.

Retain Your Customers
Just as new customers are important for your business, retaining old ones is also equally important. You can build a good customer base from just your old customers. Give your customers prompt and satisfactory service and your business will surely flourish. Remember, happy customers are the best form of publicity.

Only one out of 5 businesses makes it to their 5th year of operation, and even fewer complete 10 years. Follow these tips and you will surely make it onto the list of successful businesses.

There are thousands if not millions of businesses out there competing in the market. However, not everyone is successful enough to remain active in the commercial industry.

This is because not too many feel confident with their marketing campaigns, specifically the financial part. Many business owners in fact feel obligated to lessen their marketing budget to save more during these times of economic crisis. Hence, there is a great deal of reduction when it comes to marketing one’s business to the target clients.

However, without the right promotional strategy such as the use of custom business cards, companies make it worse by having less impact on the public. Many expert marketers would agree that without a good card, whether you printed online or in the traditional way, you need to have them to get your business recognized by your target market.

The next requirement now is to have professional custom business cards to represent you. Not only that, but ones that can stand out among the crowd. Instead of purchasing generic designs from online printing companies for example, why not have your very own layout that would reflect your unique qualities. Not only would it show your target clients why you are different from your competition, but you also allow them to see that you give extra attention to detail, which makes you look very professional.

Try to add color and unique graphic designs to complement your brand image. If it is not enough, some marketers advise you try to apply your picture on the card. This adds a personal touch to your cards and makes it easy for your recipients to associate your name with a real person. They would know that real people are actually going to take care of them and their needs.

Marketing these marketing tools does not also end at printing process. You still need to advertise and market by getting your cards out there. You can always post your custom business cards on bulletin boards in your local area to attract local customers. You can also ask your local shops to have a stack of them placed near the cashier so customers can get one anytime. In addition, as always, whoever you talk to and wherever the place, make sure you have your business cards with you so you can hand them out at the end of every conversation.

No matter what your business is, your business cards can help you market yourself to your clients and prospects. With the right design and a system of getting them out to your target clients, you can ensure that you will generate as many leads as you can to help you grow your business.

Katie Marcus writes about the custom business cards or business card printing technologies used by businesses for their marketing and advertising campaigns.

One of the most important correspondences of professionals is their business card. This very small piece of paper has all the information clients need to reach you and possibly to do business with you. While there are no impressions stronger than the ones you make while you are face to face with your clients, clients can also have a few impressions about you when they look and read your business card.

These impressions could be good things, or they can be the complete opposite. What does your business card say about you? To help you understand this, read on.

The color of your business card will start off the barrage of impressions. A pale color will sometimes make your card appear uninteresting or boring.

However, bright neon colors will also make your card look unprofessional. Therefore, strike a perfect balance in choosing the hue of your card. The font you use will also play a huge factor in these impressions. Choosing circular fonts will suggest that the person who owns the card is approachable, while fonts that are too serious looking will suggest that the person is a bit hard to approach.

When your card is soft, people will think that you work for a company that is not so prestigious. But when the card is solid, people will think that the company it represents is just as solid and stable. Lastly, a business card that has typographical errors is a big no-no. This will make clients feel that you are not competent enough to do business with. You can’t even spot errors in your business card.
Based on these characteristics, what does your business card say about you? These are just some of the things you have to think of when designing your own business card.

Guerilla marketing means maximum impact for minimum expense, often on a Do-It-Yourself basis. And while this sort of thing has always been a priority for small business marketing, in today’s tough economy, innovative, low-cost guerrilla marketing strategies have the potential to be more important than ever.

This article focuses on custom stickers-one of the cheapest, most versatile marketing materials in existence, and one often overlooked by traditional marketing campaigns.

Let’s start with the basics:

1) Understand Your Customers

First of all, this may seem like commonsense in any marketing strategy, but commonsense is often not so common. If it were, more small business owners would understand that a simple logo sticker-however great that logo may be-is probably not going to go viral, except among folks who are already ravenously loyal to their cause.

However, a sticker that people actually identify with-because of the humor, the artwork, or some other element-does have the potential to go viral, for one very important reason: it says as much about your customers as it does about your business.

A great example of this is a pizza shop in my area called Bob’s Pizza. Their logo, appropriately enough, is their name, in a curlicue type font next to a drawing of a slice of pizza. The owner of this shop (Bob) could easily have made a custom sticker of this-instead, he chose to do something different.

As the owner of an affordable downtown pizza joint, Bob understands that his target market in this area is composed primarily of families and students. So he not only provides crayons and paper for young artists and late-night doodlers, he posts these masterworks on the walls of his shop. One of these artworks happened to be by a seven-year old boy; it was a happy, blob-like person with a piece of pizza, accompanied by the words, in a childish scrawl, “I like Bob’s Pizza.”

This is the image that Bob chose to turn into an eye-catching, die-cut sticker-an image that seemed to strike a chord with both families and students, who appreciated the style and the humor. I’ve seen this sticker everywhere imaginable. I’ve also noticed a lot of people in Bob’s Pizza.

The moral of the story being: create a sticker that shows you understand your customers, and they will advertise your business far and wide-at virtually no expense to you.

2) Be Useful

Nearly everyone knows the old trick about putting a tip-calculator chart on the back of your business card, to encourage people to keep your cards in their wallets.

Depending on your business, however, there may be a better way to “stick around” in your customers’ lives-and in a way that helps to establish authority in your area of expertise. By printing a custom sticker with useful information related to your business, designed for semi-permanent mounting in important, everyday places, you can keep your name and number in front of your former and potential clients for an almost indefinite period of time.

Fix computers for a living? Design a sticker with quick-reference trouble-shooting for common computer problems, designed for mounting on a computer monitor or laptop. Yoga studio? Create a daily ‘mindfulness meditation’ designed to mount on the dashboard of a car. Heating and cooling business? Print a sticker designed for thermostats, featuring energy-saving tips.

The trick here is to be innovative, useful, and to stick around long enough so that when people need your services, you’ll be the one they call.

3) Be Outrageous

If you truly want to create some buzz in your area, you can put the “gorilla” in guerilla marketing with some over-the-top, in-your-face marketing-that-does-not-resemble-marketing.

Case in point-a website called SprayGraphic. This online artists’ community wanted to create some buzz in different places across the US. First, they recruited creative artists to feature their graphic design work on their website. Next, they sent out eye-catching posters and custom stickers to these artists, in order to help them promote their work.

The result? Intriguing posters began to appear in coffeeshops and on community boards all over the country, accompanied by their characteristic, funny moustache, nose and eye-glasses logo, explaining who they were, what they did, and why people should join. Then a series of die-cut stickers featuring their logo started showing up everywhere, accompanied by their URL. You can rest assured this simple, affordable guerilla marketing tactic created a huge amount of traffic for this site, almost overnight.

The trick with using custom stickers this way is not to give too much away-and to use them to create a kind of mystery, which your customers will then be compelled to solve.

If you are someone with a sharp business mind who is attracted to the idea of starting a new small business, you might well be considering getting a commercial business loan; the different choices for a commercial business loan are quite likely to be achievable and a concise account of acquisition financing, a poor credit secured loan, an unsecured business loan, a commercial mortgage loan, some small business equipment financing, and SBA financing is depicted here. The finance repayment times usually range between one and ten years (depending on the money borrowed). Several lending institutions allow their business customers to have a free period for the first initial months of the mortgage, thus enabling the enterprise time to make progress to get set up.

Acquisition financing

Acquisition financing is finance taken out to pay for a corporation that is at present functioning. The company providing the finance will reasonably expect to see the company books for the preceding 3 years presenting a solid profit. Do not even look into applying for acquisition financing until you have made a well thought out business proposal showing how you aim to improve added profits for the business, and some kind of market research. Often if a hopeful entrepreneur applies for acquisition financing and they hold poor credit records, they will be directed towards getting a poor credit secured loan.

Poor credit secured loans

Poor credit secured loans are loans guaranteed by certain assets of the enterprise holder such as the mortgage-free part of their private residence, or guaranteed by an entrepreneur with some physical assets that could be seized by the lending institution if the enterprise holder defaults on their credit payment. Poor credit secured loans are in common use for new enterprises just being developed.

Unsecured business loans

Unsecured business loans are more difficult to find and frequently have a larger payback rate tied in with them as the lending institution will have no means to reclaim their money if the enterprise proprietor cannot maintain the contractual payments. The lending institution will reasonably expect a high feeling of personal belief in the business before signing up to an unsecured business loan.

A commercial mortgage loan

A commercial mortgage loan can be given for any building that is making income only because it is in a unique position, for example a structure which supports a sandwich bar and a rest room, set amidst the surrounding gardens of a tourist magnet such as a spectacular waterfall – if several thousand visitors pay a visit to the tourist site, it is really a foregone conclusion that a sandwich bar serving hot coffee and sandwiches will achieve good profits assuming that it is delivering fine quality meals and drink at competitive costs and it remains fastidiously clean. A commercial mortgage loan would be quite appropriate for providing public lavatories at this sort of property.

Small business equipment financing

If a business proprietor needs some more machinery then he may well be attracted to the idea of taking out some small business equipment financing which is finance taken out on a small business’s machinery which is in the beginning appraised by the lending institution and then the lending institution pays the enterprise proprietor between a half to 0.8 of the saleable value of the machinery and the enterprise owner signs up to make payments of that mortgage at a certain monthly rate. The enterprise proprietor needs to hold a decent credit score (no less than 650), 2 or 3 months worth of trade bank statements and registered valuable machinery that may easily be shifted for an acceptable price at an auction, before trying a lending institution for some small business equipment financing.

SBA financing

SBA financing is funding on offer by the SBA in the US, however they are mostly there to give support to district governments, charities and selected mediator finance companies and SBA financing is not usually open directly to small enterprises. SBA financing is in addition to be had for enterprises that come up with technical expert knowledge, big business management, or monetary advice for new lesser firms being developed.

Whatever the sort of commercial business loan that you select when starting a new small business, whether you are looking at acquisition financing, poor credit secured loans, unsecured business loans, commercial mortgage loans, some small business equipment financing, or SBA financing, make fixed in your mind that you retain your accountant and / or legal representative to check over the requisites of the contract.
Do these and you will really increase your chances of being granted with your loan.

Every aspiring business owner needs to have the capital required to jumpstart a business. An idea will remain just that – an idea – if the resources are not available to make it materialize. While there are many people who are lucky enough to have the capital needed, there are definitely more people who turn to financing for their capital needs. If you are thinking of building up your own business, and you plan to apply for a business loan, here are a few tips and secrets on getting a small business loan. Use these tactics to increase the chances of your loan request being granted.

Always remember that banks need loans in order to stay in business, so do not hesitate to request for one. When you think about it, you’re asking the bank if you can use other people’s money to start your own business. But when you really think about it, you are paying interest for this, so not only are you helping yourself put up your dream business, you are also keeping the bank in business. The lending officer would be more than happy to grant you a loan – of course, given that you are qualified.

Be prepared to answer every question a loan officer may ask you. This is one of the tips and secrets on getting a small business loan that require a lot of preparation. The loan officer must get the message that your business venture is profitable. Make him feel that the bank’s money will be safe in your management skills.

Also, bring all the necessary documents on the very first day of your interview with the loans officer. This will make him feel that you are serious about the business, and you want to get things done as quickly as possible.
These are a few tips and secrets on getting a small business loan.

Do these and you will really increase your chances of being granted with your loan.
